Lucidity is an open-source transformational arts and music festival. We call it open-source because we co-create this festival experience with YOU! We invite you to come play with us, get involved with one of our seven themed villages, call together your star family, bring art, lead a workshop, spark a spontaneous flash mob, embody a character from your dreams, be silly and wild and free! We bring together a world class lineup of musical talent and weave them together with the sounds and vibrations of our beloved local legends. Our galleries showcase the most brilliant fine art the region has to offer, enriching the festival as a visual voyage. Art installations pleasure participants with multi-sensory stimulation while themed environments create intimate settings for personal connections. Lucidity’s environmental commitment is to leave Live Oak better than before.

When we become lucid in our dreams, we realize ourselves as infinite potential, we let go of fear, and we are free to create that which we want to see in the world. Bring those visions, those possibilities, and that delicious conscious energy with you to Lucidity and wake up in the dream.

History

It began with a collective dream of the community. Separate entities within the Santa Barbara arts, music, and consciousness community were fostering dreams of a greater vision than they were able to produce on their own. Granted, their individual realizations and accomplishments are noteworthy in their own right…

Luke Holden had begun a successful business with Branches Mobile Gallery, which has become a hotspot of excitement and late-night activity and a nexus of next level art at Lucidity and beyond. Satory Palmer was involved with the Isla Vista Circus, and was starting to work on his own production company Synaptic Productions. Andrew Garrard was working with StateSide Magazine and the production of AMASS Gallery. Alison Hensley was still in the afterglow of producing the first ever SOL Food Festival, which catalyzed and inspired a deepening of Santa Barbara’s embrace of Seasonal, Organic, Local foods. This delicious festival ran for five straight years, with collaboration from Lucidity, and SOL Food continues to have impact in the community as a 501 c3 nonprofit organization.

Fishbon board member and Walkabout Woods co-conspirator, Jonah Haas, was coming off the heels of a successful, large-scale Burningman (2011) art installation with the inspiration to create something large around Lucid Dreaming. The Collective Exp and its co-founders, Alan Avila and Allyson Gomez, were producing community events that inspired civic action as well as music and dance. The Collective was developing new models for rebuilding healthy communities- to revolve around the acceptance and inclusion of the entire community, as opposed to the division and separation maintained by social conditioning.

After Lucidity Festival’s successful first endeavor, Satory Palmer left our founders circle, selling his partnership to pursue his own career as CEO of Synaptic Productions and to help finance his first-time event Lunacy, in October 2012. To be clear, we are not partnered with Synaptic Productions, nor did we have any business association with Lunacy Festival.

At present Lucidity is a collectively owned company with 19 shareholding members making it truly a community collaboration at its core!

Lucidity Festival, LLC is rapidly growing and restructuring to accommodate larger and more diverse projects, to include but not limited to: the development of Intentional Communities and self-sufficient regenerative systems grounded on a collectively owned and operated property, an expansion of the Lucid University, producing retreat-style and more focused intentional events, festival start-up and consultation, lucid marketing and conscious media production, to name a few… also to include the growth of Branches Mobile Gallery and I AM Healing.

We’ve grown tremendously over the years, as individuals and as a thriving community entity. We look to the horizon and see that the future is brighter still. We are ever excited to behold the magic and mystery that lies ahead, and to share that with you, lucid dreamer.

Thanks for reading. We love you.
